Focus
The Data Analysis and Visualization (DBVIS) research group was founded in 2000 and is led by Prof. Dr. Daniel A. Keim. It is among the leading research groups in human-AI teaming, interactive data analysis, and visual analytics. Based at the University of Konstanz, the group combines scientifically grounded research with application-oriented approaches and societal impact.
Interdisciplinary AI Research
The group’s expertise spans key societal and economic application domains. It supports the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in areas such as public safety and civil protection, digital humanities and linguistics, sports and behavioral analytics, and geo- and infrastructure analysis.
Our research focuses on advancing human-AI teaming and visual analytics. In doing so, we contribute to innovative technologies that help people analyze complex data and create tangible benefits for society. We also consider the ethical implications of AI-based technologies, including questions of transparency, fairness, accountability, and responsible use.
"Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid: humans are incredibly slow, inaccurate and brilliant; together they are powerful beyond imagination"
Quote attributed to Albert Einstein
